The Success Story of Forex Trading

What is a MAM account?

MAM, known as Multi Account Manager, is a master account formed by multi sub-accounts and authorizes an account manager to trade with this master account. Allocating the trade’s volume (lots) in the master account to each sub-account, the volumes in a sub-account is based on the fund proportion that the sub-account occupies in the master – the available fund in the master is composed by the balance of all subs. The volume allocated to each sub-account is according to its own fund proportion.

MAM Example:
The Balance shown in the master account is the sum of all sub accounts. Let’s pretend Sub A, Sub B and Sub C has its fund $10000, $20000, and $5000 accordingly. The balance in the master will be $10000+$20000+$5000 = $35000. The allocation percentage is based on a sub’s proportion. So, it means Sub A would occupy 28.57%, Sub B would occupy 57.14% and Sub C would be 14.29%.

When a master places a 5 lot order, here is the way the allocation goes.
Sub A: 5 Lots * Sub accounts allocation percentage 28.57%= 1.43 lots
Sub B: 5 Lots * Sub accounts allocation percentage 57.14%= 2.86 lots
Sub C: 5 Lots * Sub accounts allocation percentage 14.29%= 0.71 lots

A MAM account allows you to use the percentage allocation method. Also, it can provide flexibility to allocate the trades and adjust the risk of each sub-account based on the clients' risk profiles.

After joining the master, the trading authority of a sub-account belongs to the master. Even though a sub-account can get the allocation, the right of opening and closing instructions is mainly conducted by the master. Owners of sub-accounts can check their trades from MT4, nevertheless, they can’t perform any movements to trades includes closing trades.

The performance (profits and losses) of a MAM account manager is distributed among the managed accounts. The clients' managed accounts are connected to the manager's main account and all trades made by the manager are reflected proportionally in the clients' accounts.
